All Teams Return in 2008 - New Rules Out for Voting
July 27, 2008
With all teams having announced their intentions to return for the 2008 NAFL season, we return the same set of teams for the third straight year, the second time in league history.
We now turn our attention to rules voting for the 2008 season. All votes must be cast (either for or against each proposal) by midnight MST on August 1, 2008. Please read the rule text and related intent and provide a vote as soon as possible. Proposal 1 RULE: Add a new rule to define the trading period as follows: all trades, including players and draft picks, can be made starting immediately after the NAFL championship game through the transaction deadline established each year. This changes the previous ruling where trades were not allowed during the offseason until the beginning of the annual draft. This does not change the existing transaction periods, and the maximum roster size must be observed as outlined in rule 9. INTENT: The purpose of this rule is to expand the time in which trades can be completed and encourage more trades between NAFL teams. For example, this would allow teams to trade for draft picks before keepers are determined, allowing teams more options for keeper selections. Proposal 2 RULE: Modify weekly starting lineups be defined as follows: 1 QB, 1 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 PK, 1 DS and 1 Flex position that can be a RB, WR or TE. The player used at the Flex position can vary from week to week. INTENT: This allows for more flexibility and creativity in roster management, by allowing different lineups from week to week. This would be especially helpful during bye weeks. Proposal 3 RULE: Modify active roster size limits to reduce the number of players allowed on the active roster from 16 to 14. INTENT: This is intended to allow for more desirable free agents to be available throughout the season. This will encourage more transactions during the season and avoid allowing teams to stockpile players. The individual limits for each position (i.e. no more than 3 QBs, 5 RBs, 5 WRs, 3 TEs, 3 PKs, 3 DS) will remain as is. |
