With three quarters of the season complete, the 2006 NAFL playoff races are starting to take shape, with one team only one game away from clinching a playoff berth.

In the Pacific Division, the Novato Firesouls need only one more win to clinch a second straight division title. San Diego, with two losses to Novato, is the closing division rival, but will need a lot of help. Las Vegas, the only Pacific Division team to beat Novato, could make things interesting with another win over the Firesouls this coming weekend.

The Eastern Division remains tight, with all four teams separated by no more than two and a half games. Kentucky currently holds the lead, one game ahead of New York plus the head-to-head advantage. North Carolina sits a game and a half back, with a big game against New York this weekend. Rhode Island has shown a little life the past three weeks, but would need help to vault to the top spot.

After holding a commanding lead in the Central Division, Iowa has fallen back into a three-way tie with South Bend and Casper. With a better division record and three-way record, Iowa still holds the advantage, but they can't afford further losses. Detroit, despite the loss this weekend can help themselves with a win over Iowa this weekend.
