Despite their 0-3 start, the New York Knights turned things around with a 7-0-1 run over the past eight games, earning them the 2005 Eastern Division title and a spot in the playoffs along with Arizona and Novato. The latest victory was a 53-29 win over San Diego that officially ending the Storm's playoff hopes.

Five teams remain in the hunt for the two remaining playoff spots, both Wild Card berths. Based on total points scored this season, South Bend and Minneapolis hold the inside position and would earn playoff spots with a win in the final week.

Rhode Island needs a win over New York in the finale coupled with a loss by Minneapolis or South Bend. Las Vegas needs to beat South Bend and get a loss by Minneapolis or Rhode Island, while Casper's and Washington's hopes are the thinnest. The Warriors need a win over Portland and a loss by Rhode Island while the Big Dogs need a win over Minneapolis along with a loss by Rhode Island and Washington since the Warriors hold the head-to-head tiebreaker; either South Bend or Las Vegas would be knocked out since they face each other this weekend. Total points scored will likely figure into the tiebreaker scheme.

Losses officially knocked North Carolina, Kentucky, Portland and San Diego, while Iowa leads to race to this season's Dog Bowl.
