Iowa City Stops Los Angeles, Earns First Title

Iowa City joined Texas, Washington (twice), Sarasota and New York as winners of the Fantasy Bowl, and joined Texas and Washington as winners in their first Fantasy Bowl appearance with their 21-9 win over Los Angeles. This was the league's lowest scoring game with 30 overall points.

Americans Capture 1998 NAFL Title

With victories in the divisional playoff round, the Albany Americans and New York Knights met in Fantasy Bowl VII. After two unsuccessful seasons and a one year hiatus, the Albany Americans captured the 1998 NAFL Championship with their 24-19 victory over the Knights. Randy Moss earned the Fantasy Bowl MVP, his third MVP award in three weeks. Meanwhile, South Bend knocked off Iowa City, 41-35, in the 1998 Dog Bowl.

Riddlers Ground Skyhawks, Capture 1st Title

In the highest scoring Fantasy Bowl ever, the Rhode Island Riddlers beat the Washington Skyhawks, 57-37. In Dog Bowl II, South Bend scored a season high 57 points as they topped Iowa City, 57-49.

The New York Knights scoring machine ended up being too much for Juneau to handle as the Knights earned their second NAFL title with a 51-30 victory. Washington took home the Dog Bowl title with a 22-12 win over the Portland Pirates in a battle of 3-9 teams. Fantasy Bowl IX

Big Dogs Outlast Riddlers for Title
The Casper Big Dogs got 12 points from WR Joe Horn and held off the Rhode Island to earn their first NAFL championship in a 50-44 win over the Riddlers. The Riddlers made their third appearance in the title game, while the combined 94 points tied the total points record set in 1999 by Washington and Rhode Island. In the fourth Dog Bowl, Albany knocked off Juneau, 35-31.

Knights Capture Third Title in Win Over Portland
American Bowl XI
WR Marvin Harrison scored 16 points and earned the American Bowl XI MVP in the New York Knights' 46-38 win over the Portland Pirates. The Knights also got 12 points from PK Jeff Wilkins and eight points from mid-season acquisition Jerry Porter. After scoring 18 points in the semifinals, Portland's Ricky Williams managed only two points, although RB Duce Staley contributed 12 points and QB Aaron Brooks added nine points. The real difference was the wide receiver position where New York outscored Portland, 24-0.

Dog Bowl V
Despite an inconsistent season, RB Shaun Alexander came through with 15 points to lead the Arizona Hellcats to a 39-29 win over Kentucky. Wide receivers Wayne Chrebet and Bill Schroeder added six points apiece for Arizona, while PK Sebastian Janikowski led the Crunch with nine points.
